|
| Synopsis |
Our 20th anniversary celebration will be split
into two parts. The presentations will start at
3:00 PM in the Nobili Room nested in the Mission
Gardens next to the Adobe Lodge. Cocktails and
hors d'oeuvres will be served in the Adobe Lodge
from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. You are invited to join
us for the entire program, only the technical
presentations or just for the cocktails, hors
d'oeuvres and celebration with friends of SMP.
We chose the Adobe Lodge for our anniversary
celebration because of its historical significance.
The Adobe was built in 1822 and is the only adobe
brick building remaining from the original Santa
Clara Mission and remains the oldest building
on any college or university campus west of the
Mississippi River. The Adobe Lodge was completely
restored in 1981 and is currently serving as the
University Faculty Club.
3:00 PM, Tom Roberts (SMP Tech) will discuss
sustainability in the design of green product
including end-of-life considerations and reliability.
His presentation will include information on trends
in Cleantech Industries and green product design.
3:30 PM, Howard R. Mullin (Control Plastics)
will discuss what you need to know to design and
procure plastic molded parts that work. He will
discuss design compromises as well as the most
common problems associated with the design, use
of 3-D data bases, control drawings, tooling and
manufacture of injection molded plastic parts.
4:15 PM, Rolfe Anderson PhD (Trillium Precision
Surgical) will speak on miniaturization in medical
and biotech products. His presentation will spotlight
the dynamic revolution created by progress in
device integration and technologies for diagnostics,
medical research, and medical devices. This talk
will include a look at drug delivery devices,
laboratories on a chip, MEMS, and surgical systems.
5:00 PM, Cocktails, Hors d'oeuvres ) SMP invites
you to join us for our 20-year celebration from
5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Adobe Lodge. The festivities
will include complimentary cocktails, hors d'oeuvres,
desserts and door prizes. |

Machining Techniques, Inc. (Frank Dutra), SMP Tech,
Inc. (Tom Roberts) |
| Synopsis |
John's presentation will focus on Geometric Dimensioning
and Tolerancing (GD&T), language of symbols
used on mechanical drawings to efficiently and accurately
communicate geometry requirements for features on
parts and assemblies. The seminar will provide detailed
information on the correct use of GD&T on engineering
part drawings. John will explain the essential elements
required on a part drawing to ensure the quality
of a manufactured part. Tom and Frank will comment
