“Meet the Experts” Reaction
Injection Molding Forum will include a comprehensive
review of design, material selection, and tooling guidelines
for RIM. We will also provide design tips from an industrial
design, engineering and manufacturing standpoint. The
program will also include a hands-on tour of Design
Octaves featuring tooling, molding equipment and finishing
processes.
All Forum participants
will be treated to a superb assortment of sandwiches,

Who Should Attend
The RIM Forum?
If you can answer ‘Yes’ to any of the following
questions, come learn the benefits of Reaction Injection
Molding at the Meet the Experts Design Forum on September
23, 2009.
- Are you interested in replacing a large sheet metal
enclosure with an enclosure that allows for more organic
surfaces?
- Do you require a high level of fit between mating
parts and finish of surfaces?
- Does your project have several or many internal
features that would be best molded directly into the
part?
- Are you interested in updating an existing product
with a new look while reducing the number of parts
needed to create an enclosure?
- Does the large size of your project make injection
molding or structural foam tooling not cost effective
for the quantity that you require?
- Do you require an UL94V-0 Enclosure?
- Does your team require engineering support in the
areas of part design, draft, feature design, etc?
- Would you like to combine part numbers and order
your enclosure with mechanical and electrical components
installed and ready for installation?
- Does the large size of your project make injection
molding or structural foam tooling not cost effective
for the quantity that you require?
Reaction Injection
Molding Presentation Overview.
We will visit the shop floor of Design Octaves and see
examples of the build of tooling and reaction molding
equipment in operation. The RIM demonstrations will
be coupled with explanations of cost saving advantages,
as well as how RIM are designed, molded and finished.
exodesign will discuss the development of a RIM part
from an Industrial Design point of view. The presentation
will include a review of good design practices and the
reasons for selecting RIM, over other part fabrication
process, as well as various tips on materials selection.
MegaRoller will provide an overview of cost, quality
and schedule issues in the prototyping and manufacture
cycle of a RIM part.
SMP Tech, Inc. will show a case history to illustrate
the benefits of RIM from an engineering and project
cost point of view.
After the presentations and a complimentary
lunch will be served to all attendees.
