Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

April 28, 2010

The “Meet the Experts” Forum will focus on Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), language of symbols used on mechanical drawings to efficiently and accurately communicate geometry requirements for features on parts and assemblies. The seminar will provide detailed information on the correct use of GD&T on engineering part drawings. We will explain the essential elements required on a part drawing to ensure the quality of a manufactured part as well as the cost implications associated with the over and under use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.

Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Overview

John Feuerhelm of Precision Tool will focus on Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), language of symbols used on mechanical drawings to efficiently and accurately communicate geometry requirements for features on parts and assemblies. The talk will provide detailed information on the correct use of GD&T on engineering part drawings.

Frank Dutra of Advanced Machining Techniques will explain the essential elements required on a part drawing to ensure the quality of a manufactured part. Frank will also discuss the cost implications associated with the over and under use of GD&T on part drawing.

Tom Roberts of will provide tips and rules of thumb for dimensional tolerancing and the true cost of fabrication and the benefits of using GD&T on machined part drawings for a new product.

After the presentations and a complimentary lunch will be served to all attendees.
